- Sinus Lift/ Bump/Augmentation: Oftentimes following the loss of an upper back tooth, the sinus will enlarge and fill in the area where the tooth was located. This can create a problem since the sinus is an air-filled space and dental implants need solid bone in order to fully integrate. A sinus lift is a surgical procedure to move the sinus cavity out of that space in order to replace it with bone that was lost when the sinus expanded. Many times, a bone graft is done at the same time in order to help regenerate bone to fill the voided area.
- Bone Graft: Sometimes the ideal areas for the implant to be placed do not have sufficient bone to support the implant. In these cases, it’s often necessary to use bone grafting material to build the bone in the deficient area. In certain cases, a bone graft will be done at the same time as the extraction if an infection is present. Many times, an infection will erode bone which then requires a bone graft to start creating additional solid bone. This step is done in order to facilitate the dental implant at a later date.
- Computer Enhanced Treatment Planning with 3D Imaging: Our state-of-the-art technology allows us to evaluate your CT scan in three dimensions for bone quality, bone quantity, and bone location. We are able to determine the size and exact location the implant needs to be placed before even looking in the mouth. This technology gives our doctors the ability to treatment plan each patient specific to their situation, allowing for optimum success.
- Implant Maintenance: At the completion of your dental implants, it is vital to keep the area clean and infection-free. Dental implants can accumulate plaque and tartar just like natural teeth. A regular dental cleaning schedule will be necessary to keep your implants healthy.
